Yes, this picture is blurry, but I like it for some reason because it signifies my shifting and fidgety nature. We have been talking a lot about the Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD -- I’m using acryonmns! Hi-yeah!) in school lately. I also have a lovely presentation to do on it tomorrow (maybe I should not be posting on flickr and get on that) and so it got me thinking early this morning about it. Last night, I was asked if I was thinking of living in Vancouver permanently after this joyous degree (yes, this degree has been so joyous this past week that I’m walking around headless like a chicken). In the moment, my humourous side took over and I said my nomadic nature means I could end up in Berlin tomorrow!!!

Jumping around city to city can be tiring only because you may not be so lucky to meet wonderful people. It is one thing to meet wonderful people and then people who challenge you in ways that you never knew possible (like waxing your arms for instance... this is just a hypothetical... really... I have hair on my arms still, I swear!). This led me to a realization, that most places I have lived have not challenged me as much as I’m being challenged here. This is beyond awesome because I like how and where I’m being pushed out of my comfort zone. I'm good with it because I feel supported by ‘peeps’ who laugh with me, at me (this happens more than the other options) and then the whole situation in general. I like the way I am, and I like the way they are about these things.

I should stop writing as some people don’t need more smoke being blown up there butts. Oh yeah, TAKE that Vygtosky and talk about my engagement with course content (I feel some bonus marks are in order)...

PS. Yes, I would consider staying in Vancouver as long as:
my peeps are here
they let me into their living room
I get to use the PVR (I feel I should get some PVR space now? Its been 6+ months, no?)
Eat their food
Take food home from their refrigerator when mine is empty
Steal pens, paper and stuff that I need...
Skype exists and only gets better...
... I’ll stop the list here for now... More demands as time goes on!

press L?

i think i've made a friend. :)
after several days of feeding it bits and pieces of fish or chicken and stuff i could find in the refrigerator, the neighbourhood cat is finally warming up to me!

I now make two trips downstairs a day to try and find it and feed it and just hang out with it for a bit. It's got a favourite bench too, and we kind of sit down there for awhile almost daily, to enjoy each other's company... or at least I like to think it's enjoying my presence...

Today it climbed up onto my lap, and I was totally freaking out. Three questions were fleeting through my mind.

1. Is it going to scratch me? (It kind of did, its nails were super long, and I could feel it as it stretched :'( )
2. How do I get it off?!?!?!!??! (I was really scared okay, cats are fairly unpredictable, aren't they?)
3. Will it poop on me? (Who knows what people have fed it... could poop any second!)

But then again, it was nice to know that it was comfortable enough for it to get closer to me, although I'm still not really used to it.

---

In other news, I'm leaving for Melbourne in a week... in a constant turmoil these couple of days...

How do you cope with leaving a place with people and things you've known for 19 years, and starting life anew alone in a foreign land?

x
